Night Vision ~ Closing Reception

Please join us for the Closing Reception for Night Vision
 Saturday, September 3, 4:00 – 7:00 pm
the gallery open at 2:00 pm
 
We hope you will join us on Saturday to celebrate this very special exhibit of nine artists whose diverse practices tune into subtle and fugitive wavelengths - revealing glimpses of the tender, haunting, kaleidoscopic, sensual, and expansive worlds hidden within us and around us.  On display will be painting, sculpture and mixed media works utilizing braided textile, collage, ceramic, driftwood, jellyfish, painting, and works on paper.

Night Vision was curated by Isaac Jasper Amala. This is his curatorial debut.

Jingletown Originals is a group show that features some of the artists who lived and created art in the first live/work building in Jingletown – as well as others who live there currently – and celebrates this rich artistic history.

ABOUT  GRAY  LOFT  GALLERY
 

Gray Loft Gallery has promoted the rich art culture of Jingletown and the greater Bay Area for 10 years. The gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in Jingletown, and noted by the late Kenneth Baker, former SF Chronicle Art Critic, in his Visual Arts Don’t Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in the Bay Area…”   The mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. We hope to inspire, engage and celebrate artists in our community and beyond.  We acknowledge the achievements of emerging, mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on those who live and work in the Bay Area – in a non-traditional art space. A number of artists began their art career at Gray Loft Gallery.

Pick up your official Art Route Oakland 2022 map at Gray Loft Gallery. Collect stamps on your map and submit the completed entry to a participating gallery by 5:00pm on May 14, 2022

How to participate:

• Go to one of the 30 participating galleries and pick up a map and get it stamped.
• Check out the show, and then go to the next gallery on the map.
• Collect as many stamps as you can by 5:00 pm Saturday, May 14.  
• Turn in your map at the last gallery you visit on the May 14.

Join us for the 2nd Friday Jingletown reception for  LIN  FISCHER Friday, October 13, 6:00 - 9:00 pm If you can't make the 2nd Friday reception, please join us for the Closing Reception: Saturday, October 21, 4:00 – 6:30 pm Don't miss this solo exhibit of an extraordinarily gifted painter.    “I use painting as a way to get in touch with a higher power. Images occur to me and I create them. Everything depends on the mood I am in when I go to paint, and what I am feeling. It all revolves around what image is attracting me and what will fulfill me. Consequently the paintings are not always exactly the same as the last ones in terms of abstraction, expressionism, impressionism or realism. I trust the paint and my hand to do the job. The brain seems to have little to do with it. Afterwards I learn from what is on the canvas.”  – Lin Fischer About Lin Fischer Lin Fischer is a third generation northern Californian.  Lin's BFA in painting was earned at the University of California, Davis, where she studied with Roland Peterson and influenced by Wayne Thiebaud, who was head of the fine arts department. She earned her MFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco where, after graduating, Lin taught painting to Masters Candidates, and Design and Color to undergraduates.
