Don't miss this solo exhibit of an extraordinarily gifted painter.
“I use painting as a way to get in touch with a higher power. Images occur to me and I create them. Everything depends on the mood I am in when I go to paint, and what I am feeling. It all revolves around what image is attracting me and what will fulfill me. Consequently the paintings are not always exactly the same as the last ones in terms of abstraction, expressionism, impressionism or realism. I trust the paint and my hand to do the job. The brain seems to have little to do with it. Afterwards I learn from what is on the canvas.”  – Lin Fischer

About Lin Fischer
Lin Fischer is a third generation northern Californian.  Lin's BFA in painting was earned at the University of California, Davis, where she studied with Roland Peterson and influenced by Wayne Thiebaud, who was head of the fine arts department. She earned her MFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco where, after graduating, Lin taught painting to Masters Candidates, and Design and Color to undergraduates. Other teaching included Experimental Figure Painting at the California College of the Arts Oakland, at additional venues in the east bay and Contra Costa County, and with private students in her studio.   Lin currently lives in Oakland, California.  She has shown her work in the San Francisco Bay area and across the nation.  www.linfischer.com

Seeing Red
This juried photo show will be based on the color RED.
What does the color red mean to you? It is a primary color at one extreme end of the visible spectrum and can represent many different things.  Is it a state of extreme passion, anger, excitement or arousal?  Does it signify happiness and good luck?  Is it a Valentine heart or does it refer to leftist Communism?
This show will be on view during Valentine’s Day, Chinese Lunar New Year and the one year anniversary of our present administration. Show us what this color means to you.

Email us for the prospectus.  Entries due by December 20.

ABOUT  GRAY  LOFT  GALLERY

Gray Loft Gallery - voted "Best Art Gallery"  two years in a row - 2016  & 2017 - in the Oakland Magazine Readers' Choice Award - has promoted the rich art culture of Jingletown and the greater Bay Area for 5 years. The gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in Jingletown, and noted by Kenneth Baker, former SF Chronicle Art Critic, in his Visual Arts Don’t Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in the Bay Area…”   The mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. We hope to inspire, engage and celebrate artists in our community and beyond.  We acknowledge the achievements of emerging, mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on those who live and work in the Bay Area – in a non-traditional art space. A number of artists began their art career at Gray Loft Gallery.

“I have always enjoyed this gallery, superb atmosphere and lighting. The polished and worn hardwood floors creek slightly in places as you climb to the third floor, providing a granular and unique, organic aesthetic. This is a do-not-miss venue in the East Bay.”  –  Facebook Review
