Gray Loft Gallery presents There is a There There. Inspired by Gertrude Stein’s philosophy of collecting art and supporting artists, this group show will be celebrating that way of life by creating environments in the gallery with furniture, art and events that reflect this attitude.   Bay Area artists who have had an affiliation with the gallery – and primarily artists from Oakland – will have their work displayed in salon-style arrangements in the gallery. Work displayed in the exhibit will include painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, art furniture, accessories and jewelry.

Music will be performed during Saturday hours – to be announced.

A complete list of artists will be announced soon.

The exhibit will also be open during the 9th Annual Winter Art Walk in Jingletown,
December 6 & 7, 11:00 to 6 00 pm.

The annual winter open studio event highlights the work of more than 50 artists who live and/or work in this artist neighborhood, which is situated between the Park and Fruitvale Street bridges bordered by the estuary separating Oakland from the island of Alameda.  There will be food trucks featuring delicious local products and the annual T-Sisters Parade.

About the Gray Loft Gallery

Founded in 2012, the Gray Loft Gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in Jingletown, and noted by Kenneth Baker, SF Chronicle, in his Visual Arts Don’t Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in the Bay Area…”   The mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. We hope to inspire, engage and celebrate artists in our community and beyond.  We acknowledge the achievements of emerging, mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on those who live and work in the Bay Area, in a non-traditional art space.

The building that houses the gallery has been sold to a developer, and the future in this present location is uncertain.  This exhibit might be one of the last shows in our beloved gallery.
