We are delighted to present Ginny Parsons
– a pop-up solo show curated by Gray Loft Gallery, on display at
Gallery at the Werkshack in Oakland. Ginny has a B.A. in graphic design
at California State University, Chico and also attended San Francisco
School of Art and San Francisco State University. Her inspirations in
art include Richard Diebenkorn, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet and Andy
Goldsworthy. She teaches art to children, who also inspire her daily.
But Ginny’s primary inspiration is her connection to nature and its
elements where she finds continual motivation and subject matter.
Ginny is interested in dripping, pouring, splashing and moving paint. She works intuitively, using a variety of common household ingredients like beeswax, borax, castoff house paint and also natural materials. She uses whatever surfaces come her way – left by the dumpster, dropped on her porch by the neighbors or washed up from the estuary. Her imagery comes from nature, which is where she feels connection and inspiration.
About Gallery at the Werkshack:
Gallery at the Werkshack is an alternative gallery featuring talented emerging artists from Oakland and beyond. Their solo exhibitions showcase guest artists and the Werkshack building has 8 artist and designer studios on view. They are located among many art venues in Uptown Oakland on 25th Street.

We are showcasing Betty Jo Costanzo's work on our website.
Please check out her stunning paintings here.
About Betty Jo Costanzo: Costanzo is a former professor at CCA, with roots in the Bay Area for three decades, she now lives and works in Seattle.
In her studio she is surrounded by the sounds and videos she has captured which are inspiration for her paintings. It is not one painting, nor one video nor one sound bite, but a time-based installation that prompts her physically to translate through her body the fluidity of these onto the painted surfaces. She works predominately on large scale pieces, painting on numerous canvas simultaneously, moving from one work to another. It is a performance with her body, surfaces and paint.
Please contact us if you are interested viewing Betty Jo's work.

ABOUT GRAY LOFT GALLERY
Gray
Loft Gallery - voted "Best Art Gallery" two years in a row - 2016
& 2017 - in the Oakland Magazine Readers' Choice Award - has
promoted the rich art culture of Jingletown and the greater Bay Area for
7 years. The gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in
Jingletown, and noted by Kenneth Baker, former SF Chronicle Art Critic,
in his Visual Arts Don’t Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in
the Bay Area…” The mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition
opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the
traditional gallery model. We hope to inspire, engage and celebrate
artists in our community and beyond. We acknowledge the achievements of
emerging, mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on
those who live and work in the Bay Area – in a non-traditional art
space. A number of artists began their art career at Gray Loft Gallery.
“I have always enjoyed this gallery, superb atmosphere and lighting. The polished and worn hardwood floors creek slightly in places as you climb to the third floor, providing a granular and unique, organic aesthetic. This is a do-not-miss venue in the East Bay.” – Facebook Review
