Closing reception: HOME photography show
We
celebrated the end of the fantastic photo show HOME on Friday, March 8th with a great turn
out of photo lovers and art enthusiasts. The show, selected by Ann Jastrab, gallery director, Rayko Photo Center,
was one of the best we have had in the gallery.
The range of images and media created diverse interpretations by the 30
photographers in the show, including literal as well as symbolic and personal
depictions of home and a sense of place.

Happy
2nd Birthday to us!
As we enter our third year, we
are delighted that Gray Loft Gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in
Jingletown, and noted by Kenneth Baker, SF Chronicle, in his Visual Arts Don’t
Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in the Bay Area…”
The
mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists in a
setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. We hope to
inspire, engage and celebrate artists in our community and beyond. We acknowledge the achievements of emerging,
mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on those who live and
work in the Bay Area, in a non-traditional art space.
We
believe that Art is a vehicle for communication, community building and
inspiration. We want to encourage the
appreciation and interest in the arts by presenting work in a non-exclusive,
welcoming, professional and fun environment.
We hope to cultivate the belief that art is for everyone, and that art
belongs in our community at large, not just in traditional gallery and museum
environments.
The
Gallery is a unique venue located on the 3rd floor of one of Oakland’s oldest
artists’ work/live warehouses in the historic artist district Jingletown.
Visit
us soon and see the upcoming show “Flora and Form”!
