Saving Gray Loft Gallery...

COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the gallery.
Shows and events have been cancelled - and the future is uncertain.
As you know, we are not a commercial gallery - but we do rely on sales from shows to pay for gallery expenses.

At this time of great need, we have set up a GoFundMe page.

If you are able to help out at all - we would be deeply grateful.
This support would mean so much to us - and to the community of artists and the art lovers who rely on the gallery to exhibit the beautiful and meaningful shows in our unique and aesthetic space.

We look forward to being able to celebrate with you when this pandemic is over!
With gratitude and thanks.

ABOUT  GRAY  LOFT  GALLERY
Gray Loft Gallery - voted "Best Art Gallery"  two years in a row - 2016  & 2017 - in the Oakland Magazine Readers' Choice Award - has promoted the rich art culture of Jingletown and the greater Bay Area for 7 years. The gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in Jingletown, and noted by Kenneth Baker, former SF Chronicle Art Critic, in his Visual Arts Don’t Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in the Bay Area…”   The mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. We hope to inspire, engage and celebrate artists in our community and beyond.  We acknowledge the achievements of emerging, mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on those who live and work in the Bay Area – in a non-traditional art space. A number of artists began their art career at Gray Loft Gallery.

“I have always enjoyed this gallery, superb atmosphere and lighting. The polished and worn hardwood floors creek slightly in places as you climb to the third floor, providing a granular and unique, organic aesthetic. This is a do-not-miss venue in the East Bay.”  –  Facebook Review

Christine Ferrouge closing reception

Charcoal and ink by Kelvin Curry

In Solidarity

The rage against Black Americans and the brutality that is being played out across our country has to stop.  This systemic racism has been alive and well for decades and it's time for a change.
The ART world would not be what it is today if it weren't for Black creators, thinkers and doers.

Gray Loft Gallery stands in solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters in the fight for justice and political reform.  We hope that our supporters will stand strong with us and fight for what's right.

For purchases made in the next two weeks, we will donate 10% of the profits to Black Lives Matter.  Please let us know if there is something from The Art of the African Diaspora exhibit in February or works from other previous shows.

Picnic
Christine Ferrouge – solo show

Please join us for a social distanced closing reception
for Christine this Sunday, June 14, 3:00 - 5:00 pm

All visitors must wear a mask, and the number of patrons in the gallery will be limited and will maintain a 6 foot distance from each other.

PICNIC, a solo show of narrative works by Christine Ferrouge.  Inspired by unseen narratives, Ferrouge paints to uncover the essence of a person or situation. Her recent paintings document the inner lives of children today.  Twenty years of studio practice informs Ferrouge’s bold, rough, and colorful marks that masterfully describe figures that are often larger than life. At times the paintings become a commentary on the tradition of oil painting itself. Ferrouge tells a familiar, yet mysterious, anthropological tales that extends beyond the canvas.  Read more about Christine
