Would you like to join us for Slow Art Day?
April 11, 2015, is Slow Art Day, an annual
global event that aims to transform the act of viewing art. On a single day
each year, people all over the world are encouraged to visit local museums and
galleries to look at five pieces of art for an hour or more. After the
slow-viewing exercise, participants enjoy lunch with the artists to talk about
their experiences.
Join us at Gray Loft Gallery to view the
current exhibit COMMON GROUND, a group show of seven
artists whose collective vision is based on the basic elements of light,
color, form, gesture. Quoting Jon Wessel: “At its most basic level, a mark or
gesture is about the transfer of energy from an artist's hand to a surface or
substrate. It recalls a moment in time, or – on a grander scale – a moment in
history. On an existential level, it declares, "I exist."
